ABOUT THE BOOK

Even as a little child, Stevie started walking out of our pew to the front of the church and I would go after him and bring him back to our pew. After bringing him back multiple times, I decided to let him stay there. He was not disruptive and did not make any noise. He would walk casually, not run, to the foot of the cross and gaze upon Jesus on the cross. He was mesmerized by the figure of Jesus. He loved that cross. He did it so often that when Stevie got diagnosed with the brain tumor, people knew exactly who he was, the little boy who stood at the foot of the cross. It seemed that there was a special connection between Stevie and Jesus on the cross, a connection that he must have felt even at that early age.
